Hello, I’m Monica Katona, from Thompson Falls, MT. I am TESOL-certified and have been teaching for about 8 months. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and helping students reach their goals. I believe teaching should be student-centered, motivating, and have as many engaging activities as possible.
WORK EXPERENCE
●Online Tutor / FrogTutoring / August 2022 to Present
*As an ESL tutor, I meet once a week with a client that lives in the US but moved from Korea. She is wanting to improve her conversational English, and so I have been designing lessons tailored to her needs. The sessions are done online on Frog Tutoring’s platform.
●Online ESL Teacher / Nomen Global Language Centers – Orem, UT / July 2022 to Present
*I teach a 4-hour class on Zoom once a week. The lessons are provided by the company/school, and my job is to work with students who want to practice their English, using task-based assignments. I have had one or several students at a time attend a session. I am responsible for previewing the material, assigning homework, and grading whenever necessary.
●English Tutor, Part Time/Contract / U&I Hawaii / August 2021 to December 2021
*When an opportunity came up, I tutored students based in Korea or Japan in English. I would first assess their needs and then source my own materials to prepare for each lesson, and I catered lessons to a student’s needs. The tutoring was done by Zoom.
