What do you think of Taipei?
Marla: Hey everybody! This is Marla and you’re listening to XPAT radio. I’m on the streets of Taipei asking foreigners what they think of this lovely city.
Here comes someone now. Excuse me, sir. I’m Marla from XPAT radio and I’m out here today asking foreigners what they think about Taipei. Any comments? Person 1: Taipei is fantastic! There are so many cool restaurants and stores. Some of the food looks a little strange, but it’s great. The weather could be better. Other than that, it’s an outstanding city.
Marla: Thank you. Excuse me, miss. I’m from XPAT radio. What do you think of Taipei? Person 2: Taipei is so chaotic! There are cars and people everywhere! It’s more than I expected, but everyone is friendly, and the food is fantastic. I’m really impressed with the MRT. It’s so clean and fast.
Marla: Thanks. Excuse me, sir. I’m from XPAT radio. What do you think of Taipei? Person 3: It’s not bad. It’s like any ordinary city. The food is okay and the scenery is so-so. Marla: (under her breath) Thanks a lot. That was a lame answer.
Excuse me, miss. I’m from XPAT radio. I’m asking foreigners what they think of Taipei. What is your opinion? Person 4: I can’t describe how much I love Taipei! The people here couldn’t be nicer. The food is excellent. You can do anything you want 24 hours a day. Taxi cabs are everywhere and there are so many fun places to go. I have one bad comment. I think stinky tofu is disgusting and smells horrible. Marla: Ha ha. I think it smells kind of gross, too. Thank you. We have time for one more interview. Excuse me, sir. I’m Marla from XPAT radio…
Person 5: XPAT radio? That’s the lamest radio station in Taiwan. Ha! Marla: Uhm. Anyway, what do you think of Taipei?
Person 5: What a joke! Let me put it this way: it’s crowded and dirty. The people here are so rude. They always stare at me because I’m a foreigner. I mean, it’s like, haven’t you ever seen a foreigner before? The food is so crappy…
Marla: But everyone I talked to today loves thefood in Taipei. Person 5: I disagree. The drivers are so rude. It’s shocking. And, Hello Kitty is so cheesy.
Marla: Excuse me. Can I ask how long you’ve lived in Taipei?
Person 5: About 12 years. Marla: Thanks. That’s all the time we have today.
What a weirdo. I’m in favor of sending him back to his own country.
Thanks for listening to XPAT radio.
