Hi, I come from Perth, Western Australia. At university I majored in English and Philosophy because I love to read, write and question ideas about the world. I’m always keeping up-to-date with what’s happening globally through Twitter and in my free time I like to write funny or thought-provoking short stories. Learning English is a great way to connect with people from all over the world. My own experiences travelling have shown me the power that English has. I’ve seen Japanese people speaking to Germans in English, Russians speaking to French people in English, Brazilians speaking to Iranians in English, and the list goes on. The fact that English connects such a wide variety of people together is the main reason I’m excited to be an English teacher……and the lessons can be really fun too. So, hopefully I’ll see you walking my classroom soon!
If you want to practice your reading, start with something EASYand INTERESTING. First, read the Chinese edition. Then, start with the English one while your memory is still fresh. Remember, it is not translation, you don't have to get everything right. After you finish the whole book, go back your Chinese book and read it again. Finally, go back to your English book, check the words you had problems with and memorize them. Well Done!
找一本簡單又有趣的書來練習你的閱讀吧! 首先， 閱讀中文版， 過一陣子， 趁還記得的時候， 開始看英文版。 記得你不是在做翻譯呦﹗所以大概知道意思就好了。看完以後， 再回頭閱讀中文版。 最後， 回到英文版， 查查有問題的字詞併把它們記下來。 大功告成﹗

Make a habit of carrying a small notebook. When you come across new words or phrases, jot down in your notebook so that you can review them later. When you look up a new word in dictionary, don't just find the meaning of the word, you also read the sentences, phrases, or idioms associated with it. Review them on a regular basis so that you remember them. And of course when you come to David’s Language Center, speak them out with your classmates or teachers. Don’t be shy, be confident.
